What to expect upon arrival of your first treatment?

During the preliminary consultation, your therapist will go through a health questionnaire to ensure that there are no current or previous conditions that may prevent you from having a safe and effective treatment.

Once all subjective information is collected physical tests will then be carried out to establish the probable causative factor to your problem which will be vital in selecting appropriate treatment.

All patients should endeavour to arrive 10 minutes prior to treatment time to guarantee the treatment can start on time

Cancellation Procedure

Please let your practitioner know 24 hours in advance if you wish to cancel or reschedule, however it can’t be certain whether there will be availability upon rescheduling.

Is the treatment painful?

With some deeper techniques, you may experience some discomfort depending on the state of your muscles. However, treatment is always monitored closely and performed within your own pain threshold.

Therefore, during a treatment, you will be repeatedly asked to reference your perceived pain to ensure that you can relax throughout the entire session whilst the most effectual treatment is being applied.

What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing such as T-shirt/ shorts specifically dependent on which areas are being treated. During the treatment, you will be covered with a towel with only the region being treated exposed to the therapist.

There may be occasions where you may be asked to dress down accordingly, however the therapist will always assure that they leave the room to thoroughly respect your dignity.

It’s also best practice that ladies wear a normal bra as opposed to a sports bra, as it’s easier to work around.

How many treatments will I need?

This is completely dependent on findings presented from your objective assessment. It is generally recommended that you have regularly treatments as a preventative measure to injury once a month.

How old must I be to receive with treatment?

Legally those who are under the age of 18 must have a legal guardian/ chaperone present to give consent on behalf of the patient.

Are the needles sterile for Dry Needling?

Yes, we only use sterile disposable needles.

Is Dry Needling painful?

Most patients do not feel the insertion of the needle. The local twitch response elicits a very brief (less than a second) painful response. Some patients describe this as a little electrical shock; others feel it more like a cramping sensation.

What side effects can I expect after Dry Needling treatment?

Most patients report being sore after the procedure. The soreness is described as muscle soreness over the area treated and into the areas of referred symptoms. Typically, the soreness can last up to 3 days.

How long does it take for the procedure to work?

Typically, it takes several visits for a positive reaction to take place.
